Helmut Newton Stiftung, Berlin

Die Helmut Newton Stiftung wurde von Helmut Newton selbst Ende 2003 gegründet. Sie ist eine Stiftung nach schweizerischem Recht mit Sitz in Zürich. Zweck der international arbeitenden Stiftung ist die Wahrung, der Schutz und die Präsentation des fotografischen Werkes von Helmut und June Newton, die seit 1970 unter dem Namen Alice Springs ein eigenes, bedeutendes Porträtwerk schuf. Nach den Wünschen von Helmut Newton soll diese Stiftung in seiner Heimatstadt Berlin kein „totes Museum“ sein, sondern eine „lebendige Institution“. In wechselnden Ausstellungen werden hier unterschiedliche Aspekte seines vielschichtigen, innovativen und provokativen Werkes präsentiert. Zukünftig sollen auch andere Künstler und Fotografen in der Helmut Newton Stiftung gezeigt werden und so mit Newtons Werk in einen Dialog treten.
