Chaussee 36 Photo Foundation

Founded in 2015, CHAUSSEE 36 PHOTO FOUNDATION is a cultural institution dedicated to photography, especially experimental, historical, erotic and nude photography. Our goal is to explore the social relevance of photography as well as its place in art historical discourse. In regular exhibitions as well as publications and by taking care of the De Gambs Collection and the Heinz Hajek-Halke estate, we deal with the medium of photography in all its facets. We also deal with questions of preservation as well as current research questions on photography: What is experimental photography today? What does eroticism mean in photography? What makes a historical image?

The CHAUSSEE 36 Photo Foundation collaborates with museums, private and state collections, galleries and organizations to realize in-house exhibitions and events as well as external exhibitions and projects.
